| About the Pinnacle Club | ||
|---|---|---|
| The Pinnacle Club is a UK based climbing club exclusively for women climbers. It provides the opportunity for women to meet and climb with other women.
It also provides an environment where women can encourage each others' development in the sport. With 20 meets a year, members go on climbing trips to all parts of the UK. The club owns a hut in Snowdonia. Members can book the hut and may also book nights in huts belonging to other clubs. The Club is for women climbers who are already competent climbers/ mountaineers, i.e. you must be able to lead a route and bring up a second safely. If you are not there yet then why not try out the BMC, Plas Y Brenin or your local climbing wall for rock climbing courses. The club has a very full programme of meets - about 30 a year, usually at weekends, throughout the UK. |
Some meets are based in huts other are camping. The number of people on meets varies according to location, time of year and of course weather: normally between 10 and 20 members who team up according to interest and ability. Members often climb together on weekends when there are no meets, and frequently join forces for climbing holidays in the UK and abroad. A circular and this web site keeps everyone in touch and we produce a journal every three years.
Interests of members extend beyond rock climbing: hill-walking, winter climbing, Alpine climbing, ski mountaineering, World wide mountain expeditions, fell running, caving, canoeing and other outdoor activities. | |

Students are especially welcome. Ask your University Club if we have contacted them with details. Or write an email to us. We are holding two Open Meets this year aimed at women climbers who have not visited the Club before. These are friendly meets where members mix with guests and share climbing (assuming the British weather permits). The Club's ethos is based on getting out, climbing competently and enjoying yourself at your chosen grade, and is not about how hard you climb, or what sort of climbing you do. The main criterion for membership is being safe to lead climbs of any grade, and while many members find their climbing and confidence blossoms in the Club we cannot cater for complete novices. The Open Meets this year are:
